Disappointingly, Bromley Vets didn’t field a full team, as several regulars had seasonal commitments
Maidstone's David Law earned his first League title following a determined run at Oxleas Woods. On what is unquestionably our toughest course, Law kept his head and his feet for the 5½ miles of steep woodland tracks and plunging ravines to register his third win of the season. Having been a League "regular" for 10 years forever finishing in the top 3 or 4, his elevation to the status of Champion is well deserved.
With Andrew Pickett and Paul Hasler absent from the 6th race, Law was left to track Sevenoaks guest runners Allan Lee and Jamie Atkinson who led from the start. Andrew Green 4thover half a minute behind Law. David Lee (Sevenoaks) led the charge of the pack ahead of Adam Shamman (Istead) who seems destined for a win in the near future.
Chris Desmond was the best of the vets in 7th, Paul Ross-Davies in 13th has now secured the over 50 title once again.
Michelle Flaxton kept her 100% record for the season in the ladies' competition finishing almost 2 minutes clear. Michelle now just needs an easy run at Canterbury to get her fifth race and take the ladies' individual title. Dartford Roadrunners managed to pack no less than 6 girls in the top 12 to take an unassailable lead in the ladies' team event. Not to be outdone, Dartford Harriers had Elaine Murty in 4th and Dawn Corbidge in 7th - so a pretty good day's work for the ladies of Dartford
The combined team race went to Dartford Roadrunners ahead of Invicta and Istead.
It's worthy of mention that Invicta's 10 scoring competitors contained seven over 50's. Medway and Maidstone, who were lacking in the ladies' department, slipped to 4th place on the day and lost their lead in the Championship to Dartford. This leaves everything to play for at the final event with only a single point separating these two teams.
